New Men’s Group at Age Concern

The New Men’s Group is aimed at men who are in and around retirement age and older, living in the borough of Epsom & Ewell, who may need some support to get out and about and engage in activities or do not often go into the community and are becoming isolated or in danger of it.

The Term Men’s Group is likely in time to be an umbrella term for several smaller groups.

We are offering the opportunity for members to do the activities they would chose to do for themselves if they could: with the view to meeting likeminded men in the group who have shared and similar interests so they form friendships and become as much as possible self-supporting/self-sustaining.

Age Concern are organising the start-up and will with Volunteers assist the groups on the process towards degrees of self-management by providing back-up support where needed e.g. IT training /transport.  The pathway to a group becoming independent will be gradual and in incremental steps over time. Some groups may well never be totally independent.

By engaging in activities that are of their personal choice and interest it is hoped that this will be an attractive proposition to potential members to participate in.

Please contact Ian at Age Concern Epsom & Ewell if you need any further information on this new project.

Thanks
